Hugh Christie GCSE Results 2019

Hugh Christie students are collecting their GCSE examination results today.

Of the students in Year 11 who sat their exams at Hugh Christie, 59% of students achieved a pass in at least one GCSE English subject, 61% achieved a pass in at least one GCSE Science subject and 62% achieved a pass in GCSE Maths. Overall, 50% achieved a pass in English and Maths. Over 60% of those entered for the EBACC qualification achieved it.

Other notable subjects were Travel and Tourism with a 100% pass rate, Biology and Chemistry with 92% pass rate respectively, German with a 67% pass rate, Drama with an 88% pass rate and Sport with an 85% pass rate.

Particular congratulations go to Kayleigh Allen who achieved six passes at grades 8 and 9. Kira Brown and Tiegan Emerton also achieved four passes at grades 8 and 9. The school is also delighted with students, such as Dipa Bura, who made excellent progress from their starting points.

This is the second year of the reformed GCSE examination system which are increasingly relying on students’ ability to recall knowledge and vocabulary over a significant period of time. I am aware of the particular pressures and difficulties that a number of our students have had to endure and overcome to achieve these results and they deserve warm congratulations for doing so.
