Hugh Christie A Level Results 2019

Sixth Form students at Hugh Christie School are collecting their A Level results today. Nearly 40% of grades were awarded at A* to B (or equivalent) which was very close the school’s record performance achieved in 2018. 60% of grades were achieved at A* to C (or equivalent).

Vocational subjects have continued to perform well with over half of students entered in Law, Business, Health and Social Care and Media achieving Distinction grades or higher.

A Level subjects performed well again with a 100% rate in subjects including Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Art, History and Geography.

The school has also received results for two new initiatives. For the first time this year, students were entered for the International Baccalaureate Career Pathway and achieved a 100% pass rate. In addition, the school has worked in partnership with Tonbridge Angels to establish a Football Academy with students achieving a 100% pass rate in their qualifications.

Half the number of students who took A levels have secured places at University, including Russell Group. A third of applicants received unconditional offers.

Executive Principal, Jon Barker, said

“I would like to congratulate all our students on achieving their A Level and Vocational results today. This year group have been educated at a time of significant reform of GCSE, A level and Vocational qualifications and it is a testament to their hard work, and the dedication of the staff, that they have achieved good outcomes.

I would like to wish all our Year 13 leavers the very best as they progress on to their next steps whether that is University, further training or employment.

I am also delighted that our new initiatives with the International Baccalaureate and Tonbridge Angels have continued to engage more young people in post 16 education; the positive outcomes in the first year give us confidence as these programmes expand in the future.”
