A Level results released today

Sixth Form students at Hugh Christie School have achieved a record number of grades awarded at the highest level this year. An impressive 42% of grades were awarded at A* to B (or equivalent) which is a 10% improvement on 2017. Over two thirds of grades were achieved at A* to C (or equivalent).

Performance in vocational subjects showed a particular improvement despite the introduction of new tougher qualifications with an examination element. In Business Studies, 93% of grades were Distinction or higher. Over half of students in Sport and Media achieved Distinction grades or higher.

A Level subjects continue to perform well with more than half the students achieving the highest grades in Art, Chemistry, Drama, History, Geography, French, Photography, Maths, Further Maths, Product Design and the Extended Project Qualification.

Students are progressing to a range of different futures, with many opting to study further at University. Head Boy, Dominic Marchese, has secured a University place to train to become a Paramedic. Head Girl, Holly Gordon, has secured a University place specialising in Outdoor Leadership and Adventure Management. Other students have secured places at a range of Universities, including Russell Group, to study subjects such as Biomedical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Astrophysics, Maths, Primary Education, Sport and History. We also have students progressing to vocational degrees such as film production, performance make-up artist and marine and natural history photography.

Congratulations to all students on these well deserved results.
