Model United Nations General Assembly 2016

Students from Years 12 and 13 recently participated in the local MUNGA - Model United Nations General Assembly - at the Tunbridge Wells Town Hall.

Thirteen other local schools took part and a range of global issues were discussed and debated. Students had to debate three resolutions on international conflict, refuges and the rights of women. They also had to debate an emergency resolution on climate change.

Hugh Christie students represented the countries of Russia and India. The Russian delegation came under some pressure for their recent invasion of Crimea from other delegations. The students gave a really good account of themselves with a particularly strong opening statement from the Indian delegation.

Congratulations go to Jack Hemming, Dom Marchese, Martha Rumble-Turley, Zoe Priston, Auriel Titlman and Faye Griffiths for their contributions on the day.

We would also like to thank Mr Geoffrey Boxall for advising the Russian team.
