Hugh Christie Technology College is a pilot Kent Pilot Community School, committed to the Extended Schools Initiative to cover the core offer of
• A varied menu of activities
• Community Access
• Parenting Support
• Swift and Easy referral
As part of this initiative we will be extending provision for pupils, parents and members of the community. Extended provision begins at 8am for breakfast the café with after college clubs running from 3.15. Extra curricular initiatives include projects such as the Toyota Challenge (Design Technology), designing wind turbines to power a laptops as well as sports and music clubs.
Students are involved in a wide range of community service including day placements at Pepenbury and Cornford House, to support literacy in the college.
Community Access currently includes Silver Surfers (a computer club for those 55 and over) as well as Cisco courses. Further courses will be available later on in the year.
