Cafe @ Hugh Christie
All students are expected to remain on the college premises at lunchtime unless they are returning home for a mid-day meal, in which case written confirmation will be required from parents and a pass issued by the college. Eating and drinking are only permitted in the café, the outside area next to it and the Main Hall when it is open.
The Café is operated for the college by a company called Chartwells. For more information about the company, visit their website - http://www.scholarest.co.uk/education-eat-learn-live.htm. Food can be purchased from the indoor café or the outside tuck shop areas.
The café is open for breakfast from 8am every day. Food can also be purchased during break times and at lunchtime. Key Stage Five students can purchase a limited range of products throughout the day.
The college operates a ‘healthy eating’ policy. The aim is to provide a good choice of quality food which is attractive to our students. The current menus for September 2012 are available by clicking here
The cafe operates a cashless system using smart key technology. Students make their choice of meal and present their smart key in payment. Each student will be provided, free of charge, with a smart card registered in his or her name. Lost smart keys will need to be replaced at a cost of £5. These are available from the Finance Office
The smart keys can have money added to them in two ways:
× By cheque – made payable to Chartwells. This will be accepted by the Café Manager between 8am and 8-30am only.
× By cash – two machines are available in the café for students to add money to their smart key at any time

PACKED LUNCHES
These should be brought to College in a sealed container and are to be consumed in the café or outside area. All students should respect the environment by ensuring all litter from packed lunches is placed in the bins or taken home.
