Achievement Summary 2012

In 2012, 92% of the cohort achieved at least 5 GCSE (or equivalent) passes at grades A*-C. This was an improvement of 8% on 2011 and well above the National Average. Both boys and girls achieved at least 90%, significantly outperforming the previous year. Of those who achieved 5 or more good GCSE grades, over half also succeeded in achieving A*-C grades in both English and Mathematics.

Mathematics again significantly exceeded the National Average with 67% of the students achieving an A*-C grade. English Language A*-C grades improved by almost 5% and the progress measure in English improved by over 10%. In addition, excellent results were achieved by the Technology, Photography, History, Chinese, Business, Performing Arts, Science and Art departments.

On average, every student achieved the equivalent of 8 GCSEs at grades A*-C. There were almost 1000 A*-B grades awarded out of the 3000 grades awarded in the season. This represented Hugh Christie Technology College’s best ever set of results.
