Welcome to the IB Career Pathway

Hugh Christie is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Career-related Programme and pursuing authorisation as an IB World School.

IB World Schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to improve the teaching and learning of a diverse and inclusive community of students by delivering challenging, high quality programmes of international education that share a powerful vision.

If our authorisation visit by the IB is successful in May 2017, we plan to offer the International  Baccalaureate Career Pathway from September 2017.

This is an exciting new course that will offer a very different pathway for students in our Sixth Form.

This section on the website gives you some information about the course, why you should study it and where it could take you.

If you have any questions, please speak to any Year 11 advisor, Mr Goss (mgoss@tonbridgefederation.co.uk)  or Mr Shah who will be happy to help.

The Career-related Programme (CP) is designed by the International Baccalaureate (IB). It is for students who want to focus on career-related learning in the Sixth Form. It leads to either further study (university) or employment once successfully completed.

By developing both academic and employment-based skills, the CP will help successful students to:

  • take part fully in the changing workplace over their life-time
  • be more flexible in securing a variety of different jobs
  • gain apprenticeships or further work related training
  • enter further education such as university
  • become lifelong learners
