World Book Day 2017

Students and staff at Hugh Christie School once again celebrated World Book day in style with nearly all students and many staff dressing up as their favourite book characters.

Many took on characters from the current termly ‘Hugh Christie Reads’ theme of Children's’ Classics. These included Wizard of Oz, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Treasure Island to name a few.

The Howard Library, now the largest school library in any Kent school, put on a Harry Potter theme day with some very scary Dementors around to trouble the many dressed up characters from J.K. Rowling’s wonderful books.

Alongside these, we had the weird and wonderful including a number of Dennis the Menace and Gnasher characters, impersonated by members of the Science Department.

This annual celebration of reading has become an important tradition at Hugh Christie. Whilst being great fun, it reminds also the whole school of the huge pleasure that can be gained from reading.
