Former Hugh Christie Student Strikes Duke of Edinburgh Gold

Jacob Gray, who left Hugh Christie in 2015 to go to Plumpton Agricultural College to study Arboriculture, was recently awarded his Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award at St James’s Palace in the presence of HRH Prince Edward, The Earl of Wessex and was presented with his Award by the adventurer and mountaineer Squash Falconer.  This is an incredible achievement.

To achieve this Jacob completed five activities over twelve months including helping rangers at Hayesden Country Park with conservation activities, playing tennis at Tonbridge Tennis Club, learning to drive, supporting a Scout group on a residential visit and participating in an expedition to the Peak district including a 100km independent walk.

Current Hugh Christie students Hamish Martin, William and Alexander Smith are also currently in the process of completing the Gold Award.
