Hugh Christie success at the TeenTech Awards

Hugh Christie students in Year 9 recently attended the TeenTech awards at the River Centre in Tonbridge. They took part in a day of activities relating to Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

Congratulations to Matthew Barker and Grace Hibbins whose ideas for potential future projects were chosen to go through to the next round of the competition.

Matthew’s idea was for a system that monitors the Earth’s resources so they can be evenly distributed. Grace’s idea was for a tree cloner which would mass produce trees to inhale carbon dioxide and exhale oxygen.

Out of the many schools attending, only eight schools had winners chosen. Hugh Christie was the only school out of all of those in attendance to have two students chosen to go through to the next round.

Matthew and Grace will now attend the next round later this year and hopefully will get their idea put forward to the national TeenTech awards in 2015.
